SOUND - A short film

Welcome to our fundraising page for the Chapman University senior thesis film "SOUND"!

SOUND is a sci-fi drama short film that follows Margot and Robert, two scientists roped into a covert experiment investigating a mysterious sound on an isolated ranch. While at first brought together to try to decode the disturbing, interactive frequencies, they are drawn into a deeper story of magnetic attraction.

OUR TEAM

DIRECTOR

Asher Kaplan was born in Los Angeles, California. He’s been intrigued by the filmmaking process since a very young age. He now goes to Chapman University, continuing to study in the film arena. While he enjoys making films that cover many different topics, he particularly enjoys the genres of science fiction and drama. On top of directing films, Asher also takes on the role of film composer as he has a large background in film music.

PRODUCER

Remy Wood is a creative producer whose inspiration and vision have been shaped by his roots in Australia, New York, and Los Angeles. Remy is currently attending Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, and enthusiastically exploring all facets of the entertainment industry. Remy can’t wait to work with this stellar team to bring this story to life.

WRITER

Jackson Spiner was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Interested in storytelling from a young age, Jackson now studies screenwriting at Chapman University’s Dodge College. Writing across a wide array of mediums and genres, he is incredibly passionate about the written word and enjoys seeing his stories come to life. Jackson also loves working on set, often taking on the role of a script supervisor.

CINEMATOGRAPHER

Conrad Holzman is a cinematographer from Laguna Beach, California. He was always around cameras as a kid thanks to his dad, who’s been shooting photography since he was 14 years old. Conrad started making movies when he was in kindergarten, using the webcam on his computer along with the Photo Booth app. His passion grew over his childhood and brought him to study film production at Orange County School of the Arts for the duration of his high school career. This is where he discovered his passion for cinematography and over those four years started to hone his craft, and decided to continue his education in Film at Chapman University. Now in his last semester of college, he has had the pleasure of meeting dozens of talented creatives, along with several more films under his belt, 3 of which he has had the pleasure of making with Asher and Remy.

PRODUCTION DESIGNER

Gwendolyn Allison is a junior Production Design major and an art history minor. She is really excited to be back working with such a stellar crew. Sound features a lot of detailed design and a build which Gwen is super stoked to tackle. Thanks for donating!

EDITOR

Meet Arne, our editor, or if you already know him, don’t worry, it’s not the same person you are thinking of. Arne is a lot of things, including a friend, a stranger, and, as we said before, an editor. Arne grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and yes, the route to school was always uphill in both directions. Arne is excited to work with the team to bring this film to life.

SOUND DESIGNER

Wilson Jones is a seasoned senior in film production at Dodge College, where his passion for crafting immersive cinematic experiences has flourished. Specializing in sound design and audio engineering, his dedication to perfecting the auditory elements of storytelling has led him to excel in creating captivating and harmonious soundscapes for various film projects.

UPM

Originally from the Silicon Valley, Jordan Sharkey is a Senior Creative Producer whose focus lies within producing narrative films and music videos. She is greatly looking forward to working with this stellar team and bringing this film to life!

1st AD

Will is a Junior Directing Student at Chapman’s Dodge College. After growing up in front of the camera working in the film industry in Vancouver, BC, Will is excited to be learning the ropes in SoCal.
