Mi chiamo Lilith. Sono una donna nata maschio, una donna con vari vissuti tra cui quello di persona trans, un’artista multidisciplinare che ha animato la scena underground romana dagli anni duemila ad oggi. Vent’anni fa ho intrapreso la mia prima transizione chirurgica – un atto di sopravvivenzae resistenza. Oggi mi preparo a un importante intervento chirurgico di revisione in Thailandia, che mi permetterà finalmente di mettere insieme i pezzi e vivermi per chi sono davvero.

Questo non è solo un percorso medico. È un pellegrinaggio di guarigione, riscatto e trasformazione.

Nel corso degli anni ho dedicato la mia vita a creare arte che nasce ai margini e riscrive il centro– arte che sovverte le norme e rompe i binarismi. Ho vissuto e amato intensamente, muovendomi tra Roma, l’Italia e l’Europa, circondata da anime favolose incontrate lungo il mio percorso – creature visionarie che hanno nutrito il mio cammino con bellezza, resilienza e ispirazione.

Ora mi rivolgo alla mia comunità di amicizie (è un termine che uso per includere in una sola parola tutte le persone a cui mi riferisco) : amicə, alleatə, artistə e famiglia scelta per aiutarmi a compiere questo passo essenziale verso l’integrità e la libertà.

Questa operazione non è un lusso, né un vezzo estetico: è una necessità imprescindibile per vivere in modo pieno e coerente con me stessa. L’accesso alle cure mediche è un diritto fondamentale di ogni essere umano. Eppure, qui in Italia, quando ho cercato supporto per affrontare le complicazioni derivate dal mio primo intervento, l’équipe che mi aveva operata più di vent’anni fa mi ha detto che dovevo accontentarmi. Che non c’erano soluzioni. Che dovevo ringraziare il cielo per essere stata operata, perché in altri tempi alle persone come me avrebbero fatto l’elettroshock.

Questo non è solo cinismo medico: è il riflesso di un sistema che continua a considerare la vita delle persone trans come marginale, trattando i nostri corpi come casi da archiviare e non come soggetti degni di cura, ascolto e continuità.

Per questo oggi sono costretta ad andare in Thailandia, dove esistono cliniche specializzate che affrontano questi interventi con competenza e rispetto. Ma questo ha un costo molto elevato – e affrontarlo da sola è impossibile. Per questo chiedo supporto: perché la mia autodeterminazione non può dipendere da confini geografici o ostacoli economici.

Support Lilith’s vital Revision Surgery

A journey of transition and liberation

My name is Lilith. I am a woman who was born male, a woman with many lived experiences, one of which is being trans. I’m a multidisciplinary artist who has been part of the Roman underground scene from the early 2000s to the present day. Twenty years ago, I underwent my first gender-affirming surgery – an act of survival and resistance. Today, I’m preparing for an important revision surgery in Thailand, which will finally allow me to bring the pieces together and live fully as who I truly am.

This is not just a medical journey. It’s a pilgrimage of healing, reclamation, and transformation.

Over the years, I’ve devoted my life to creating art that is born at the margins and rewrites the centre, art that subverts norms and dismantles binaries. I’ve lived and loved intensely, moving between Rome, Italy, and across Europe, surrounded by extraordinary souls I’ve met along the way – visionary beings who have nourished my journey with beauty, resilience, and inspiration.

Now I turn to my community of friendships (a word I use to encompass all those I refer to): friends, allies, artists, and chosen family – asking for your help in taking this essential step towards wholeness and freedom.

This surgery is not a luxury, nor a cosmetic whim: it is a necessity for me to live fully and in alignment with myself. Access to medical care is a fundamental human right. And yet, here in Italy, when I sought help for the complications that emerged after my first surgery, the same medical team that operated on me over two decades ago told me I should simply accept things as they were. That there were no solutions. That I should count myself lucky to have had the operation at all because in the past, people like me were given electroshock therapy.

This isn’t just medical cynicism, it reflects a system that still treats trans lives as peripheral, our bodies as cases to be filed away rather than human beings worthy of care, attention, and continuity.

This is why I now have to travel to Thailand, where specialist clinics approach these procedures with competence and respect. But doing so comes at a very high cost, one I simply cannot bear alone. That’s why I’m asking for your support: because my right to self-determination should not be dictated by borders or financial barriers.
