This sweet baby is Simon, the loving companion to my friend, Heather. When Heather received a devastating diagnosis of cancer and had to undergo surgery, she adopted Simon to keep her company throughout her recovery. As she went through chemotherapy, Simon was her nurse, her friend and a bit of hope for the future. Now Heather must be the same for Simon.
On Sunday, April 28th, Simon’s back legs stopped working and he began dragging himself around. Although he regained the use of his legs by the time Heather rushed him to the emergency vet, there was not good news waiting there. The vet told Heather that the incident was likely the result of a blood clot, and would need costly diagnostic tests and medicines to treat. Without treatment, they said, it would most certainly occur again and the best treatment option would be euthanasia.
Simon is only 3 years old. He should have many years left to bring joy to Heather and his Instagram followers.
The testing and beginning treatments for Simon were quoted at $1,440. While Heather seeks only enough to begin this process, I’m hoping people will give a bit extra for the additional treatment that is sure to come.
Many of us know the joy of a pet, a companion animal or a service animal. Many of us also know the pain of watching them suffer. Please give what you can spare to help Simon get healthy and continue to be there for Heather. Every little bit gets us closer to our goal.
If you’d like to follow Simon on Instagram, you can find them here.
Thank you, deeply and sincerely.
