Couple who rescued and re-homed over 1000 Have made it to SCOTLAND , March 17th 2020
Thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to our appeal . Without you getting home with our fur family of 8 dogs would never have been possible. When we had almost lost hope our friends stepped up. YOU are our family and we are forever grateful for your love and support
We are Jane and Patrick Ebbitt. We lived in Mallorca, Spain with our fur kids ,9 rescued island dogs - We are faced an imminent catastropheand sought to raise substantial funds by the end of February, to cover bills and transport costs . Thank YOU We made it home to Scotland !

For 11 years we dedicated our lives to rescuing homeless dogs on the tiny Caribbean island of Nevis. We created 'CARE Nevis Animal Society' and operated the only rescue sanctuary on the island .
Politics and financial pressures resulted in our moving in October 2018 in search of employment. We made an epic transatlantic journey from Nevis to Mallorca with our furry family of then 11 dogs.
Our dogs are our family we will never abandon them, no matter what the circumstances.
Things have been difficult and employment in Mallorca seasonal. After 38 years we decided to move back to our homeland of Scotland. But never in our worst nightmares did we imagine that our fortunes would crash to the point where we could land in the streets with our dogs.
What happened ?
We sold our home in Nevis in November'19 with the proceeds of the sale enough to settle the outstanding mortgage and leave us with enough to cover our bills and move us all back home to Scotland . We planned, we packed, booked the removal van and paid a deposit on our new rental home in Scotland. And then, a lightning bolt from Nevis ripped through our hopes and dreams.

On Feb 6th we expected news that our money from the house sale was on its way, instead the email announced that the bank in Nevis have seized our share of the funds even although the settlement on our mortgage is more than covered. We have been unable to find a lawyer in Nevis who will represent us. Our money is tied up in court and we have no other funds or assets .

We are in a state of shock and devastated over what has happened since February 6th. Our world has been turned upside down. Our savings are long gone, we have nowhere else to turn.
We are appealing to everyone who knows us and our compassion for animals to help us out of a predicament caused by an over reaching Caribbean bank. We are asking for your generosity and understanding hearts. Please help us remain with our dogs and bring them to Scotland.
What will the funds be used for ?
* Major expedition from Mallorca to Scotland by boat, road and Eurostar train to Scotland with our family of 9 dogs
* Cover veterinary costs for the dogs passports and vaccines
* Hire a large van to transport our fur kids to Scotland and
cover moving costs
* The transport route involves a van, a ferry crossing, driving through France to the Channel Tunnel and then on through England to Scotland .
We just want to get home soonest. Settle our dogs , find work and begin a new chapter in our lives.

Our Pledge ....to pay it forward
We will continue the fight to release our funds from the bank in Nevis.
If we are successful and recover our money by end of March we will forward the contributions made by every donor during this urgent appeal by donating them to animal charities
We will donate the equivalent sum raised in this campaign in the name of everyone who contributes to our appeal .
Jane has been a successful fundraiser for homeless dogs in Nevis and is still passionate about continuing her rescue work.
Note : If for any reason justice does not prevail and the bank continue to hold our money for the foreseeable future, our pledge may take longer to fulfill, but we will pay it forward, however long it takes.
As Directors of CARE Nevis we raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to rehabilitate dogs and send them on to their forever homes in the USA and Canada. It was never easy, but thanks to an amazing network of international supporters we saved the lives of over 1000 dogs and puppies.

How ironic that the Rescuers are in desperate need of being rescued themselves.
Will you help us keep our family united and bring us all safely back home to Scotland ? The one constant joy in our lives has been our dogs, the unconditional love has been shared both ways.
Grateful doesn't begin to describe what it would mean to us if you gave any gift to help us on our way.
Please help lift us out of our present crisis
Any gift will be lifesaving.
If you are unable to pledge money in support, then please share our fundraiser on your facebook, twitter feeds and any other means so that we may make it through this soul destroying nightmare .
Thank You from us all
