Hello my friends, cat-lovers, kind people, and those with money to burn - we could really use some help. Luna has been through quite the saga the last few weeks, so feel free to skip to the end for the recap.
Our sweet baby Luna has been having a rough time :( She’s been sick so we went to the vet on Friday, Oct. 3rd - after blood work and x-rays, we found out she probably has a bacterial or parasitic respiratory infection, but she may also have cancer. She’s on meds for the possible infections now, and we’ll just have to cross our fingers, wait, and see.
To make matters worse, she had an accident and had to go to the emergency vet less than 48 hours later.
Trigger warning: the tip of her tail got degloved. They wanted to amputate the exposed bone, but won’t sedate her due to her lung condition. Instead, she’s got more meds and a fancy cone. We’ll be crossing our fingers (again) that it heals up and falls off on its own without any more damage to the tissues and nerves of her tail.
She’s under nearly constant supervision and takes 5 different medications, twice daily: 2 antibiotics, 2 pain meds, and a steroid. She also has follow up appointments, which could result in more medications or further intervention, depending on how the next couple of weeks go.
Needless to say, it’s going to be a very long and very expensive October. We’re already over $1000 in the hole, with another $300 bill (minimum) coming on the 22nd. If she still needs amputation, that’s over $1500, and if she’s still sick, we have absolutely no idea what that cost could look like.
If you know Luna, she is the most precious, loving, goofy little lady in the whole world. She and her sister have turned cat-haters into cat-people. Point being, we will do absolutely anything for her, no matter the cost. But we would really, really appreciate some help, whether you donate to her cause or just send us some good, healing thoughts.
TLDR Recap: our baby is sick and hurt. We’re asking for your help.
Please and thank you
We love you
