On labor day Monday, Penelope decided to take on a water moccasin while visiting family. She was bitten on her mouth, and we rushed her to an emergency animal hospital, where she was hospitalized for two nights and received two dosages of anti-venom. (I have been an emotional wreck this week).

We have made it back home and we're hopeful for a speedy recovery. Penelope is on a lot of pain medications and still has a ton of swelling in the bite area. I am relieved, to say the least, that we were able to get her to the hospital in time. We are now faced with a vet bill of over $5,000. And we have additional vet appointments for follow-up care and healing progress that can only be done at another emergency care hospital.

It's hard asking for help for me, but many of my loved ones have encouraged me to reach out to the community to help cover this emergency cost. So with an open heart, if you can donate anything, it would be a huge blessing for my sweet pup and me.
