We are the proud families, community members, and supporters of Eastwood Elementary School. Eastwood isn't just a school - it is a community of learners, where every child is known and supported. Our students excel academically, thanks to dedicated teachers, a strong Gold STEM program, and a culture that encourages curiosity and achievement.
Despite the 2017 Bond promising to rebuild Eastwood, Granite School District now proposes the closure of the school, to be voted on this December 2025. Closing this school would break trust with families, disrupt hundreds of students, and erase decades of community investment. Eastwood serves as a gateway school for students across the Salt Lake Valley, fostering innovation, leadership, and academic excellence. We call on Granite School District to honor its commitment and keep Eastwood Elementary open for future generations.
In a unified effort to prevent Eastwood from closing, we are seeking help to raise the funds needed to secure outreach material and garner further community support.
These awareness efforts include the following MINIMUMS:
- Yard Signs (500 signs) – $1,250
- Flyers & Handouts (5,000 pcs + large prints) – $750
- Petition Platforms and Organization fees – $300
- GoFundMe Fee - $200
- Town Hall Visuals & Equipment – $400
- Digital Ads (Geo-targeted) – $800
- Advertisements & Marketing Efforts – $3,500
*Extra funds will be allocated to initiatives based on estimated impact or Return on Engagement (ROE) metrics.
We want to make it clear to decision-makers that we are not in favor of Eastwood closing. It is a pillar of not just the community, but the district as a whole.
Raised funds will help us to increase awareness of the proposed closure, unite the community further, and show the Granite School Board that the larger community is not in favor of the recommendation to close Eastwood! Our children need Eastwood and the dedicated, caring teachers and administrators that support them.
Disclaimer: Donations for this initiative are not tax-deductible, yet, as we are currently an informal parent group and not a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We are capping donations at $10K so as to not trigger additional administrative overhead for our custodian treasurer, while non-profit status is pending.
