Our Story
Our story starts in 2017 at the University of Maine, weeks before Anne was hosting the annual Chi Omega Sorority event, celebrating the chapter's accomplishments and philanthropic success. Around the same time, Caroline was welcomed into the same chapter, looking to form new friendships. She reached out to Anne to offer help, and from there, their friendship blossomed. After a successful event, they quickly realized they work extremely well together, and more importantly have fun doing so.

Fast forward to 2020, Caroline and Anne have been quarantined together back home in New York during the COVID-19 pandemic, and eager to work on something unique. On one hand, there was plenty of time to create; on the other, it was difficult finding certainty in what the future holds. During a time that felt so complicated, they began to reflect on simpler times and their favorite memories together. Looking back, this friendship was built on hard work, they both share a love for fashion and business, and strive to make their dreams a reality every day. They knew that no matter what they created, their mission was to create an all-inclusive community through fashion, that could make life feel a little less complicated. From there, Sorry It’s Complicated was born.  

First Collection: 
Our first collection will include a Sorry It's Complicated branded t-shirt and crewneck. These items will encompass the Sorry It's Complicated minimalistic style that speaks for itself. This sleek and simple design is the first of many items we plan on releasing in the future that incorporates our unique style. 

Within the next five years, our goal is to expand our product line and introduce new items such as outerwear, swimwear, and more.

Style:

Sorry It’s Complicated's style encapsulates 90s, early 2000s, old Hollywood glam, and girl next door aesthetics. We intend to incorporate nostalgic trends into modern-day fashion. Within the next five years, our goal is to expand our product line and introduce new items such as swimwear, lingerie, and more.

An overarching priority of ours is to offer versatile clothing in each collection that can work together and as separate pieces.

Year one:
 - Increase clothing inventory by an additional 50%
 - Identify consumer trends
 - Advertise locally through word of mouth, social media, flyers
 - Have 5K+ followers across all social media platforms

Year two:
 - Grow the Sorry It's Complicated ambassador program; have at least 10 contracted ambassadors
 - Increase clothing inventory by an additional 50%
 - Turn inventory 5x
 - Develop an email database of returning customers and send out biweekly emails
 - Implement a subsidiary label under our parent company, SecondHand SIC, where we provide lightly worn, high-quality fashion apparel and accessories
 - Have 10K+ followers across all social media platforms
 - Maintain a close community with our followers
 
Year three:
 - Have 20k+ followers across all social media platforms
 - Implement a subsidiary blog to further enhance the Sorry It's Complicated community
 - Increase clothing inventory by an additional 50%
 - Turn inventory 6x
 - Upgrade packaging and fulfillment workspace
 - Build strong relationships with reliable wholesalers that offer high-quality products
 - Receive recognition from verified social media influencers monthly
 - Showcase winter and summer products year-round
 - Attend at least 2 trade shows
 - Introduce new custom Sorry It's Complicated apparel monthly
 
Year four:
 - Have 30k+ followers across all social media platforms
 - Increase clothing inventory by an additional 50%
 - Turn inventory 7x
 - Attend at least 3 trade shows
 - Set the groundwork for a Sorry It's Complicated mobile application
 - Implement personal shopping and style assessments on our website to help customers develop personal styles using the products we offer
 
Year five:
 - Have 40k+ followers across all social media platforms
 - Increase clothing inventory by an additional 50%
 - Turn inventory 8x
 - Reach a total of 400 sales a month
 - Nationally advertise through paid media and well-known magazines 
 - Increase requirements for the ambassador program and offer higher incentives
 - Generate sufficient revenue to provide two director-level incomes
 - Higher part-time staff
 - Set the groundwork for the implementation of a potential storefront

Risks and Challenges:
Although there is a risk associated with launching a business during COVID-19, we have worked hard over the past six months to ensure that our first launch will be a success. We have devised strategic plans to stay one step ahead of any dilemmas and challenges we may face to stay aligned within our budget, timeline, and goals. The rapid spread of coronavirus has had a major impact on incoming and outgoing shipments, which may delay our incoming inventory and outgoing packages to customers.
