Dear friends, family, and loved ones of Michelle Sorise, along with her colleagues, alumni, and staff at Great Neck Public Schools,

Early Sunday morning, August 14th, Michelle Sorise--beloved Facing History/Social Studies/Psychology teacher at GNSHS, and also coach, mentor, and friend to so many--woke to flames and smoke billowing throughout her house. She and the rest of her family got out safely, but then they were forced to watch as the house became engulfed in flames. Everyone is ok, but, as she put it, "we are all in complete shock."

Unfortunately, the damage is extensive, but we have a chance to help Michelle in the way that she is always there to help everyone else.

Michelle is always the first to jump in to help when something bad happens or tragedy strikes--locally or globally. As a teacher, as an organizer, and as a humanitarian, Michelle gives extensive amounts of her own time, money, and resources to help anyone in need. Moreover, she has taught and inspired countless students to become agents of positive change in this world.

If every person she has inspired, aided or impacted in some way were to make a donation, it would make a huge difference and it would be an amazing help to her and her family in this time of need.

Michelle Sorise is always the first to stand up for others; it is now our chance to stand up and support her.
