Sorin, and his wife Sanda, originally from Romania, immigrated to Canada in April of 1993. They made Canada their home and opened up their lives and hearts to Lucy and Brandon, two siblings whom they fostered and eventually adopted. Over the years, Sorin and Sanda both worked fulltime jobs so that they could support their family. Approximately 4 years ago, they welcomed their first grandchild, Andreas, whom they absolutely adore and live for!
In June 2019, Sorin retired and looked forward to spending time with his family and travelling. Sadly, this past June, Sorin's wife Sanda was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Sanda recently underwent a 12 hour brain surgery, where doctors removed the mass and are now awaiting biopsy results. As if this wasn't enough, Sanda suffered a stroke during the surgery. As a result, she temporarily lost the ability to speak her native language, as well as, recognize her own family members. After several days in the Intensive Care Unit, Sanda began to slowly improve and doctors moved her out of I.C.U. Unfortunately, her health took another turn, when the wound on her brain began leaking fluids and would potentially result in another surgery.
Sanda has a long road to recovery. Doctors and Neurologists are still uncertain of her prognosis, but with Sorin out of work and caring for his wife and grandson, their savings are diminishing and bills and costs are adding up.
I've created this GoFundMe page in the hopes that we can all pitch in, even if it's just a few dollars, to let Sorin and Sanda know that we're thinking of them. Sorin and Sanda are kind and loving Christian people, who are very involved with their community. This unexpected curve ball is a reminder that life can sometimes be unfair. Let us all come together as a community, to show them our support and friendship.
