Soren & Sarah
Donation protected

In 2020, our beloved son, brother, and friend, Soren, proposed to the love of his life, Sarah. They had recently bought a fixer-upper in a Seattle suburb and were spending every extra minute and dollar from their teaching jobs to rehab their home and make it livable. Despite all the challenges that 2020 brought us, they were holding strong; remaining dedicated to their work as teachers and volunteers in their community, to each other, and to the exciting future they were creating together.
Then, in mid September, while driving his motorcycle home after attending a memorial service for a close friend, Soren was in a terrible motorcycle accident. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and many fractures, making those first days and weeks a terrifying rollercoaster. Since then, his recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. After spending 2 months in the hospital, he is now back home with Sarah in their Seattle apartment. Healing from the traumatic brain injury, multiple bone fractures and hip surgery is underway. Throughout his ordeal, Sarah has been at his side, absolutely dedicated to his rehabilitation and well-being. They both have much to be grateful for as his healing journey continues.
While grateful to be alive and making tremendous progress, Soren and Sarah face many serious challenges ahead. Soren has severe disabling nerve damage to his arm and is looking at many months of physical, occupational, speech and cognition therapies, as well as multiple complicated nerve surgeries. The medical bills are stacking up. In September, he will travel to Philadelphia for nerve transplant surgery, with additional travel and lodging expenses needed for that momentous 10-day trip. On top of medical expenses, their old truck has recently died, and they need to find a reliable automatic transmission vehicle that will enable Soren to be able to drive, with new physical limitations, to medical appointments and eventually... back to work.
With mounting medical expenses, transportation needs, on top of multiple repairs still needed to finally make their home livable in 2021...Soren and Sarah are facing a precarious year in 2021. If you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation, of any amount, to help them get through the difficult months ahead and back on their feet. We thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for keeping Soren and Sarah in your thoughts and prayers, for the generosity and care that you have already provided to Soren, Sarah and the family over the last several months, and for your ongoing love and support.
With humble hearts...
