sOre Feet 4 Lucas

Hello, my name is Jack, a 56yr old slightly overweight ex-cop with a false hip & dodgy bunions ! Yet I’m planning to walk the equivalent distance of Manchester to Liverpool ‘ IN ONE DAY’ by conquering the 34miles of the Sandstone Trail (Whitchurch to Frodsham) in aid of Alder Hey Hospital and the family of the most beautiful little boy Lucas Goodier. On 30th January this year Lucas enjoyed his 10th Birthday … and yet only two weeks later, he was in Alder Hey, taking the first painful steps in an awfully long journey, fighting for his life - he has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). His young innocent life, the lives of his lovely family have been turned entirely upside down ~ as I type this he is suffering terribly ; on the ward at Alder Hey, unable to eat or drink properly due to the side effects of his treatment, his pain having to be constantly controlled. His treatment is likely to take a minimum of the next two years, putting enormous strain on him and of course his family.

After realising there was little I can actually do to help Lucas which would make a significant difference I decided to raise money for Alder Hey Hospital who Lucas will depend upon for his future and the Goodier family, who face a daunting couple of years to say the least…

I was with Lucas on the day he was born, I’ve carried his first ever shoe with me on my key ring ever since, he had his first ever ‘sleepover’ away from home, with my wife and I and he danced and sang to his favourite film, Moana - he is a special little boy , an innocent child who simply doesn’t deserve what’s happening to him ….

I don’t mind how sOre my Feet will become 4 Lucas … if I can raise much needed funds for the hospital and his family ….

On Sunday 20th July, supported by a brave band of great friends, a dozen hardy souls, I intend to leave Whitchurch at approximately 4am with a view to walking the 34 miles to Frodsham by 9pm ~ I know from previous experience that we might not make it , that the challenge is mighty … and whatever happens our feet will be very sOre ~ but whatever we endure will be insignificant in comparison to the battle Lucas now faces …

I respectfully ask that you consider making a donation, however small, to this cause and to inspire our challenge.
