Dear friends and family,
I hope you’re all doing well. By way of this platform, I wanted to share with you the unfortunate situation by which my cousin Soraya and her daughter are currently going through.
My cousin Soraya Roman is a single mother and a licensed Doctor from Lima, Peru who came to the States about 20 years ago in order to provide her daughter with a great future. Throughout her life, and even more so after the passing of her father due to illness, Soraya has always worked very hard to provide for her daughter as well as her mother. Unfortunately, a year ago, our entire family was distraught with the news that she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Through her strong will and desire to see her daughter grow, fulfill a career and a family of her own – she was committed to battling through and through. Over time, Soraya went through chemo, radiation and all of the painful treatments you hear about associated with this horrible decease. Amazingly, after months of fighting and having gone through various treatments and against all odds, Soraya won and beat – so we had thought. After being in remission for a couple of months, we were informed that the cancer is back, but this time in the form of a brain tumor. Soraya currently works for Walmart and is lucky to have a job and insurance. However, her treatment is starting in a couple of weeks and she no longer has any vacation or sick days left. With limited funds, paying for insurance, bills, food, and rent will not be easy – in fact nearly impossible.
To help alleviate with these of the costs, I've created a GoFundMe, which you can view here:
