Hello everyone,

I'm Joy Guidry, and I'm a bassoonist and composer. I am raising money to fund my sophomore album titled Amen. Unfortunately, self-funding an album is impossible for me, so I'm seeking help from the community to bring this project to life. This album will follow my recent Radical Acceptance, which was released in February 2022. This money will go directly into funding this project with detailed items listed below.

Recording engineer

Studio time

artist fees for musicians

producer

project manager

PR

The entire goal for this fundraiser is $10,000, but setting the initial goal to $7,000. The story of "Amen" is my life exciting today in happiness, growth, family, love, and how grateful I am for the life I have. Focusing on what healing feels like to me. What love feels like to me. What breathing feels like to me. A journey in music from styles of gospel, zydeco, free jazz, ambient, house, and poetry. I am beyond excited to start this project this year and bring this new story of mine to the world.

Thank you for reading, and I wish you a wonderful 2023 filled with many blessings.

Here are some reviews of Radical Acceptance:

“Whether this is still free jazz, already contemporary music or even sound performance does not matter. Radical Acceptance is one of the strongest statements that free music has made recently.”

"On February’s Radical Acceptance, the interdisciplinary artist pulls together spoken-word pieces with quivering electronic soundscapes, freeform woodwind blasts, and rich rhythmic spirals. It’s an intense, vulnerable work that demands equally thoughtful attention and engagement." –Allison Hussey https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/great-records-you-may-have-missed-winter-2022/
