Sophie is a wonderful pet to a 4 year old girl, a boy who turns 14 on 12/29, a wonderful wife. Yesterday on 12/26 (my wife's birthday) Sophie was mulled by a coyote in our back yard. My wife let Sophie out to go pee and she was did not come back when called.

My wife asked me to go out and check on her, when I called her name I heard rustling in the bushes in the back of the yard. As I got a flashlight out I spotted my dog lying lifeless in a pool of blood. I thought she was dead.

I picked up Sophie and she started to breath. I call for my son to grab a towel and get in the car. I rushed her to the Crossroads Animal Emergency Room. As I was driving my son help pressure on her neck were she was bleeding from.

We got her in the ER in the nick of time. She lost a lot of blood and her airway was closing. The doctor had to give an emergency tracheotomy so she could breath. Sophie went under emergency surgery that lasted two hours.  She had to have plastic surgery to repair the chunk of muscle that was torn from her back, she has broken ribs, a bruised lung, and some broken vertebrae, and had to have her airway reconstructed.

We do not know how much her bills will be in the end as of tonight 12/27/16 we are just about $11,000. Anything will help offset the cost of this tragic attack on Sophie. Any money that is raised over the cost of her bills will be set aside to help people’s pets in need.
