Sophie’s Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being organized by Sophie’s friends and family. Sophie is an amazing mom, sister, friend and a beloved Phee Phee to her grand babies.
In August 2019, Sophie moved from Georgia to Ft. Worth, Texas for a job opportunity. Shortly after her move, she began having some health issues. In November 2019, Sophie was diagnosed with a tumor on the tail of her pancreas. She had been losing weight and was having difficulty eating. She was hospitalized around Thanksgiving and underwent some more testing and a biopsy of the tumor. The biopsy confirmed the tumor was cancerous and on 12/19 she was given a diagnosis of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
The tumor is inoperable at this time and is affecting other organs. Chemotherapy has been recommended. She has moved back to Georgia so she can be with family and have support as she fights cancer and has treatment. She is unable to work due to her health and has also been without health insurance. She has been self-pay for her medical tests, medications and hospitalization so far, and the medical bills are starting to come in.
We are in the process of trying to get her insured through the Affordable Care Act. She will be self pay for her treatments until that point, and also responsible for anything considered out of network (and with most health plans through the ACA many things are out of network or just not covered).
This GoFundMe is to help Sophie with some of the financial burden she has and will incur. The funds will help her with her high insurance premiums and upcoming treatments, medications, and doctor visits. We don’t want her to have to worry about the stress of finances. Cancer is stressful by itself, and having financial hardship on top of that makes things even more difficult. We want her to focus on her health and spending time with family, her precious grandchildren, and friends. Every little bit helps. Prayer, encouragement, donations, or just simply sharing is very much appreciated. Thank you so so much!
