Sophie Quill Heald - A Memorial and Tribute

Donation protected
On Sunday the 26th of July my beloved wife Sophie passed away. Sophie is remembered by her two loving dogs and one rabbit, her family in Sydney and the Blue Mountains, and most of all, her 16-year-old son.

From her early life, and up to her death, Sophie dedicated her life to supporting the most vulnerable people in the community. Sophie started her career as a disability support worker. Working long hours, as a single mum, Sophie went to TAFE and finally to university to attain a degree in Social Science. For the Last eight years Sophie worked with families with children with disabilities, and finally with children in the foster care system
Five years ago, I had the everlasting privilege of meeting Sophie. The very moment I met her we both experienced a spark of connection which neither one of us had experienced before.

We often spoke about our first meeting the feeling of “Oh! Hey! Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you.”

Within our five years together, we shared many little adventures, long walks on the beach, and drives throughout the county side. Most of all, we shared tremendous days and nights at home laughing with the joy of silliness. Also, she tolerated my dad jokes.

Seven months ago, Sophie experienced a violent sexual assault, which caused a spiraling depression of which she never recovered. After months of intensive mental health support within the community, Sophie died by suicide.

Due to the sudden nature of Sophie's death, her family and myself are struggling to cover the costs of end of life and the loss of her income.

I am hoping to raise money to pay for her funeral costs, and a small amount for daily living costs as I move through an unprecedented period of grief.

As her son is 16, I am hoping to set up a small savings fund for him for when he turns 18.  Money will never replace his mum, but I hope some small funds will help.

With any donations, I will be immeasurably grateful.

Thank you, and may I pass on my blessings to you all.
