Sophie ( Omani Wadi Foster Dog) Vet Bills
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Laura and it’s my birthday in January. Instead of buying me anything (I have way too much stuff already!) I’m asking my family and friends to make a small donation towards the cost of vet bills for Sophie our Omani Wadi Foster Dog.
Sophie is an Omani Wadi (street) dog who was rescued by the small team at The Wave Cats and Dogs Rescue off the streets in Oman. She was about 4 months old when she was saved. Unfortunately, Sophie had been beaten. She had been beaten so badly that her back leg had been severely broken, it was touch and go as to whether it could be saved, but the amazing vets at Azaiba Vets did a fantastic job.
We started fostering Sophie at the end of October 2024 to give her some home time so she can be assessed before finding her forever home. Sophie has now had three operations on her leg. Unfortunately, after the last one to remove a pin, her leg became infected and she was in incredible pain, it was so sad so see when she’d been doing so well. She needed sedation, X-rays, an overnight stay, pain meds and antibiotics coming to a total of about £190.
This doesn’t sound a huge amount but The Wave Cats and Dog Rescue are 3 people trying to do their best for the animals in Oman. They are constantly asked to help abandoned or injured animals and have not been able to get registered charity status so officially cannot raise funds, but they continue to do so despite the risk. They have animals in boarding which incur monthly fees and huge vet bills, often footing the bill themselves as no fosterers, forever homes or donations are forthcoming. The last thing they needed was another trip to the vet, so I decided to try and fundraise to help. All money raised will paid to them to cover Sophie’s vet fees.
Sophie is an amazing girl, she gets on well with other dogs, cats and children and just loves to play. She loves cuddles and is house-trained. She is now about 9 months old and still trusting of humans despite her ordeal. She fully vaccinated, sterilised and has been titre tested and is currently in her 90-day waiting period, which means she can travel globally soon. We’re still looking for someone to adopt her, if she’d make the perfect addition to your family please email me.
Please support if you can, any extra raised above Sophie’s vet bills will be given to The Wave Cats and Dogs to help bring the other vet fees down.
