2024 got off to a heartbreaking start. On New Year’s Day, we noticed a large lump forming on our sweet Sophie girl’s hind leg. Over the last month she has made three vet visits to have tests done to find out the cause of the lump. This past Tuesday, just two weeks before Sophie’s 5th birthday, we received the devastating news that the mass growing on our little girl is cancerous. More tests will have to be done to confirm the exact type of cancer, but the initial diagnosis is a histiocytic sarcoma - a very aggressive, dangerous form of cancer. The treatment for this cancer typically involves amputation of the leg and possibly chemotherapy as well if the cancer has spread beyond the limb.
Her vet bills so far have totaled around $1,000 dollars and the treatments, surgeries and rehabs going forward will be several thousands more. Sophie is a huge part of our lives and we are going to do everything we possibly can for her. With great humility, we are asking for donations from anybody that has the means to help us make sure Sophie gets to live a long, healthy and happy life. We thank you with all of our hearts.
