Sophia Silverberg’s Bat Mitzvah Project
Tax deductible
Hi,
My name is Sophia Silverberg. I am 12 years old and in 7th grade.
I am fundraising for my Bat Mitzvah Project.
You may be wondering what that means or why I am doing this.
Because I am Jewish, it is a traditional to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, at the age 12 for girls and 13 for boys.
That means that I will read from the Hebrew Bible, The Torah and become a Jewish Women.
I will also get to do a Mitzvah and help
others in need. This is how I am doing it.
The summer of 2020 was a very different summer than we all know.
Like my sleep away camp, many other day camps and kids activities were closed due to COVID-19
Campers were forced to sit inside or try to have fun on their own.
I have been a camper since I was 2 years old attending several day camps and sleep away camp. I knew that this was NOT how summer was supposed to be!
So, I created my own camp, Bunny Hill Camp.
I had 10 campers ages 4-8 in my friends backyard.
The campers participated in many activities! I am ready to do it again with an after school twist on camp.
But, after thinking about how amazing camp I remembered that some kids don’t get to experience the magic of it. If you have ever been a camper you know what I mean!
Although, The Boys and Girl’s Club is NOT a camp, it provides a safe space for kids to learn, grow and have fun!
The club has a teen program and after school
program empowering children with different interests and giving them mentors.
This is very beneficial for kids in need.
So, all the money made from MY camp this summer will be donated to The Boy’s and Girls Club.
Thanks to everyone who has read this far, lets reach our goal!
