Help Sophia Bridge Cultures: Her Journey to New Zealand!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sophia, and I am a proud Deaf sophomore at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) in Faribault, MN.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity
I have been given the incredible opportunity to travel to New Zealand in late March 2026 as part of my International Studies Class. This isn't just a class trip; it's a valuable chance to connect with the global Deaf community.

We will be led by a local Deaf tour guide who will not only show us the iconic landscapes and rich Māori heritage but also provide an invaluable look into the unique Deaf culture of New Zealand and their use of NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language). This immersive experience will be crucial to my education, helping me develop as a global citizen and future advocate.

The Goal: Fueling a Dream
The full cost of this incredible journey—including airfare, lodging, and educational program fees—is entirely self-funded through fundraising and donations.

Your donation is an investment in my future. It will directly help me secure my place on this trip, allowing me to gain the independence, cross-cultural understanding, and perspective that I cannot get in a classroom.

What Happens If I Exceed My Goal?
If I am fortunate enough to exceed my fundraising goal, 100% of the extra funds will be donated to help my fellow MSAD classmates who are also working hard to make this dream trip a reality. Every dollar will support the entire class. (A photo of my classmates going on this trip is shown in the photo gallery.)

Thank you for helping me make this educational dream a reality. Your support is deeply appreciated and will have a lasting impact on my life.
