Sophia has always been the kind of person who runs toward hard things. She spent years working in cancer research and finally started medical school earlier this year, looking better than anyone ever has at a white coat ceremony.

Then, in an unspeakably twist of fate, leukemia happened.

But because Sophia is Sophia, she has been fighting (and winning) with grit, courage, and determination, with a few dark jokes to boot.

What followed has been weeks of intense treatment, exhaustion, and lots of anxious waiting — all met with the same quiet force that’s carried her through everything else in life.

Sophia’s not doing this alone. Her family has been by her side every step of the way. But, between the medical bills, daily living expenses, transportation, food, and just staying afloat, the costs add up.

This fundraiser is a way to carry some of the burden for them.
