Sophia Sheffer

Thank you for taking the time to read this. As some of you might know or are learning our very sweet Sophia Sheffer lost her very short but courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer this week. It was only a month ago Mike and Sophia got the news that she was diagnosed with this terrible cancer. Sophia was very quick to not become a victim of this but understood that God had a plan for her, even if it was hard for everyone around to accept that this was the plan. She would spend her days letting everyone know she was ok, hugging her kids tight, and encouraging her husband that God has a plan. We will never understand how during a time like this she could be so strong but that is who Sophia was. Her heart knew no other way. Mike quickly stepped up just as he always had and put on a different hat to quickly adapt to the news. The past 30 days for this family was filled with love and prayers. They did not spend time being mad or angry, instead being grateful for the time they had together, all the way until the final day when Sophia smiled at Mike and said, “I love you.”

Sophia was a very gentle and kind soul. She loved everyone around her, and they knew it by her contagious smile. In her presence, you just felt a light that she shined. When Sophia met Mike, she had 2 children - Brooklyn and Terrel. Eleven years ago, she then started a wonderful life that she dreamed of with Mike. This life was full of laughter, fun, love, and of course God. They went on to have 2 beautiful baby girls Hailey and Laila which were another blessing in the life they created together.

Their family of 6 is now left as a family of 5 to learn how to adapt to the new life. One without the glue that held them together - Sophia. During this very difficult time we are asking for ANY help to give Sophia's family the support they deserve.

Throughout this time, Mike has been working and caring for Sophia and their children. Now to comfort the 4 children she leaves behind. With Christmas around the corner, any help and support will go a long way. We plan to use the funds to help plan services for Sophia, pay bills, and make sure the kids are taken care of.
