Sophia was DOA Born at 32 weeks, she remained in the hospital for 2 1/2  months and during that time she recovered from a level 3 double brain bleed,  blood transfusions, Patent ductus arteriosus, and Atrial septa defect. The neonatal Dr. advised she would live but not speak due to the brain damage. Sophia has overcome everything except the hole still remains and throughout monitoring her for the past three years her cardiologist doesn't think it will be closing on its own. We have made the decision to treat her and have the hole closed with a device put in her heart to help keep the bad blood and clean blood from mixing, her heart is enlarged and working harder to pump the blood which also causes stress on lungs and kidneys. During this tough time of covid-19 her mother also recently lost her job and health insurance coverage. We are looking to help raise funds for our little girl's heart device closure and her post operation visits. Sophia has a vivacious spirit and she is a natural born leader. She captivates us every day with her creativity, problem solving, and curious spirit. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
