Hi!!
I am SO excited to announce that I will finally be running the Boston Marathon this April 2017. Running the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine so I am so excited that I am going to be able to participate in such an iconic race.
What’s even better is that I am running in the name of an awesome organization, the Massachusetts Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program (MA HOBY). HOBY is making a difference in high school students by giving them opportunities to learn from leaders and give back in meaningful ways. HOBY has awesome programs like community leadership workshops that are geared towards freshman in high school that give them the chance to interact with local leaders in their communities and run community service projects, and they have over 4,000 volunteers working across the country to plan these programs.
Anyone that knows me and my family knows that giving back is very important to me, especially to children and young adults to make sure that the future of our country is in the hands of motivated people who want to make a change in the world. I want to raise money for this organization because I believe that what they are doing by continuing positive programs for students throughout their time in high school is very important. High school is one of the biggest times in life that can shape who you become as an adult, and leadership and volunteerism can make people feel valued and confident in a constructive way. We need to continue to encourage teenagers to recognize that giving back is impactful, and that everyone’s voice can be used to make a difference in their community. I know in my own life that I am very grateful for my parent’s encouragement to get involved in service projects and foster care because it opened my eyes to all kinds of possibilities for change that you don’t realize until you are witnessing it first-hand.
MA HOBY is a 100% volunteer organization with the status of 501 (c) (3) non-profit. All monetary donations contributed to MA HOBY go directly to the support of programs for the ambassadors and alumni. Please visit the HOBY website and consider helping me to fundraise for this amazing program! http://www.mahoby.org/
You can donate here, or send a check directly to MA HOBY addressed to Gail Elmore at 13 Barbara Jean Street, Grafton, MA 01519.
