S.O.S. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing complimentary sailing for seriously health-challenged people and their support group. We sail on the calm waters of Boca Ciega Bay in St. Pete Beach, Florida, on the first Sunday each month. Since 2012, we have provided 100+ cruises for
1,000+ people ages 5-95. Volunteers help make each of the sails memorable, and donations make each sail possible.
While we are a volunteer organization, we have to train our volunteers. This incurs the cost of maintaining the boats according to Coast Guard regulations. We provide drinks and an S.O.S. t-shirts as a commiseration to the health challenged patron. We also have the cost of maintaining our website. Our future plan is to purchase a larger boat that can be outfitted to accommodate all handicapped individuals. Allowing us to expand our services.
