Hi my name is Sara Rose, since moving to Lopez Island I have wanted nothing more than to offer a communal creative space that could give local makers, artist, and musicians a place to go and express themselves. Family, friends, and myself have put a lot of time, money, and energy behind this project so watching what it has blossomed into is very fulfilling.

Our communal space has turned into a safe and welcoming place in the community where people can be their authentic creative selves. Our previous events have had outstanding support from the artists and attendees because our space offers an alternative to the limited resources and spaces available on our rural island. Poetry, music, and art have all been created and performed in our space.

We want to offer more and now we can with your help. We are wanting to turn the entire building into a communal art and event space that will be open year around. Our first efforts will be to secure funding for our future projects. This is our first fundraiser. We are asking the community to donate so we can reach our goal for $45,000 which will cover most of our projected yearly basic costs. The money will directly go to rent, utilities, and basic supplies. Anything we receive over the $45,000 will go to hiring locals, upgrades to the space or supplies for art and other various projects. We have submitted for our 501 c3 and were approved! So now all donations can be written off on taxes. We also have a board assembled and a solid group of volunteers backing us. All that is left is to secure funding. Some of the services or events we want to provide are art classes, after school programs for teens, monthly bazaar and concerts, bi-weekly open mics, bi-weekly DJ and dance nights, community group meet ups, open artist and musician hours for finishing projects together, and private work stations for artist to use long term or short term.

We are going to be completely transparent where every dollar is going. We will document and share along the way as we get the space dialed in so there is no question that the money you donated is being used for the greater good of the community. All funds so far have gone to rent and the rest has been self funded.
