Help Make Soobin Lee's Pro Golf Dream—His Reality

Soobin Lee’s path to professional golf has been anything but traditional—but perhaps that’s what makes Soobin so extraordinary.

Born in South Korea, Soobin Lee immigrated with his family to the United States when he was just 13. Life’s tough enough as it is for the average 13-year old—but imagine how hard it was to move to a new country, learn a foreign language, meet new friends and join a new school? Despite the obstacles faced by Soobin and his family, he persevered and thrived.

In the United States, most professional golfers seem to follow a traditional career path: start golf at a very young age, compete in junior and high school tournaments, and get recruited by a college team before turning pro. Soobin, on the other hand, never picked up a golf club until he was 17. Golf came naturally to Soobin—with hard work and practice, his game improved exponentially—before he knew it, he was winning tournaments. People soon recognized Soobin’s talent and encouraged him to attend the PGA Tour Qualifying School—commonly known as Q School. But that didn’t happen. Like most immigrant stories, Soobin’s family was in no position to support his golf dream. So he put golf on the back burner and decided to enter the workforce to help his family make ends meet.

While he couldn’t afford Q School, Soobin was determined to get a job in the golf industry so he could still enjoy the sport he loved so much. Over the years, he assumed progressive responsibilities in various roles—from coach to assistant golf professional at notable golf courses to his role as a caddie to a tour professional, during which Soobin lived the day-to-day life of a professional golfer.

Soobin decided to go all in and make his dream a reality.

In 2019, Soobin met his mentor and biggest supporter. With the mentor’s urging and support, Soobin decided to go all-in and make his dream a reality. And he did—until the COVID-19 pandemic derailed everything. Soobin intended to qualify for the PGA Tour China 2020 season. Unfortunately, that season was canceled due to COVID-19 and so were Soobin’s plans.

For the past two years, Soobin has been training in Florida at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes. This October, he intends to qualify for the Asian Tour and the Korean Tour—but he needs your help. His goal is to raise $50,000 to support his travel and tournament entrance fee expenses for the season.

Soobin wants to prove that it’s never too late to achieve one’s dreams. Please support him on this journey and help make his dream—his reality.
