Hello, I am Sonya Anjum Saba from Abbottabad, Pakistan. I run a small animal rescue network where I turned my home into a mini home based shelter for rescued cats, along with feeding stray dogs all the way to 12km outside my city on regular basis. I run this welfare work entitled as SSARS “Sonyas Stray Animals & Rescues” - Abbottabad, Pakistan.

I started my work in 2014 and gradually found volunteer vets to join in the cause. So far I have rescued more than 200 animals, some of them got adopted and others went through TNVR. I have 23 cats in my home based shelter, all neutered and vaccinated along with 35 stray dogs that I feed regularly. Our feeding sessions work as an awareness program to stop dog culling that is being done on government level against the strays all across Pakistan. So far we were able to educate locals to respect strays as living beings and be kind to them, as they deserve an equal chance to live. Our awareness campaign had a positive impact on locals to an extent where some of them build small homes for strays near their shops etc, if they spot injured or sick animal they report us right away, sometimes we pick the animal for treatment, but if the animal can be treated on the spot then our vet visits the site to treat the patient.

Along with that we have 100% successful record of getting rescued animals adopted by genuine and sincere families that keep us updated about their wellbeing.

Our vets provide free telephonic consultation along with visits (if needed) for strays as well as house pets.

I also run a small YouTube channel where I upload awareness videos for the public regarding animal care and welfare along with regular updates of our welfare work.

Our expense to look after our permanent animals in our care and running the rescue nerwork is getting difficult to meet on our own now due extreme inflation and increased number of animals in our care.
