Sonya Y. Walters Memorial & Support
The one of a kind mother, sister and friend, Sonya Yvette Walters was born on December 11th, 1965 in Tyler, Texas. She passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Palm Sunday, April 5th, 2020 at the young age of 54.
She was a teacher, mentor and counselor to the youth, the underprivileged and to anyone she came in contact with. She loved music, movies, art, dance and rollerskating.
She is survived by two daughters: Joy (16) and Jasmin (30), parents: Patricia Biles, Hubert Walters, Wes Biles and siblings: Narda, Julian, Malcolm, Stephan, Shanan, Bonco and Sharif.
We all admired her strength and her humor. We know we will never meet anyone like her but we also trust she is at peace. We find comfort in knowing that being absence from the body means she's present with the Lord.
Due to the global health crisis, a virtual service will be held Mother's Day May 10, 2020 at 6pm. We are looking to hold a physical service later this year. We are accepting donations towards that as well.
Many of you have reached out hoping to send flowers or bless the family in some way.
Please consider donating to this GoFundme page, or sending a donation directly to Jasmin Walters and/or Patricia Biles.
Funds will be used to reimburse cremation costs and other expenses related to Sonya's affairs. Any remaining balances will be utilized to assist Joy in her relocation and donated to great causes for the intellectually disabled, mentally disabled and homeless women and children.
Thank you all for your help in our time of need.
