Sonya Needs A New Kidney

My name is Sonya Davis, but you can call me Jay. I am a 55 year old single mom to Camron and Shayla. I am also the main caregiver to my senior father Hobby who lives with Dementia.  I have a wonderful group of loving, supportive siblings, family and friends who I love dearly and would do anything for. I find myself being a caregiver to everyone except myself. The time has come for God to humble me and allow me to receive help from other people as I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease that has severely damaged my kidneys. I am now in need of a kidney transplant. Over the years I have worked hard to improve my health. I have had and maintained a 158lb weight loss, become more active, and although I like to cook occasional soul food meals, my household eats healthier meals. In spite of that I find myself in this position and although I get anxious about it at times, I know there is a lesson and a purpose in this  for me. Knowing that, I have a sense of calm about it all. First lesson, humble myself and allow God to have His way. Allow the people that He put(s) in my life to help me through this emotionally, physically, and financially. Secondly, I will be grateful in everything that comes my way because there is always someone out there whose situation is not as fortunate as mine. Thirdly, He is not giving me more than I can handle, but where I fall short, God, family, and friends will carry the load for me. With that being said, I would like to humbly make two requests. Please, if you are healthy and have the heart to do one of the bravest, selfless acts any human can do for another, please consider getting tested. Perhaps donate a kidney. Not just for me, but for anyone who has the need. It could be someone that you love that could go through this in a heartbeat. The greatest thing they can hear from you is I will test and donate if I am a match.  My second request, I'm asking for you to please donate to my fundraiser. Although I am blessed to have private health insurance, I know there will be out of pocket expenses for me and a potential kidney donor. I do not want the lack of funds being the reason I can't move forward or a donor is unable to donate. All surgery related expenses for the donor will be covered by my insurance. Other expenses will not. This fundraiser will be used to take care of all out of pocket expenses. I hope that I have put out a lot of love, care, and good deeds in the world that they come back to me so that I can continue loving on and caring for others in need. Thank you for being my BLESSING!
