Sonya was called when results from a routine blood work check showed something was very wrong. Sent immediately to Huntsville Hospital she was admitted and was undergoing a bone marrow biopsy within a few hours. Two days later we were told she had AML leukemia. A rare aggressive fast-moving type of leukemia. After a week of 24/7 chemo those bad "blast cells" had gone from 90% to 40%- 50%. She needed it to go down to 5%. Sonya's love for Christ has comforted her and she has told everyone over and over "God's got this."
Sonya was recently moved to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She has now been diagnosed with b cell acute lymphomic leukemia, an aggressive cancer of the blood. A new direction of treatment has begun with a goal of receiving a stem cell transplant.
Sonya has been married for 37 years to her love Norman. Their separation has been extremely difficult. Only twice in their years of marriage have they been separated more than 3 days. Sonya has now exhausted all her leave time from work. Her short-term disability will be for a limited time. Norman has to work to keep the household afloat. Although there is health insurance they are now dealing with out of network coverage and only one income.
Would you please take Sonya and Norman into consideration of your monetary assistance? We cannot thank you enough for your help during this very difficult time. Please keep Sonya and Norman in your prayers during this difficult journey. Again THANK YOU! God bless you for your generosity and kindness to a wonderful person you have never met.
