My name is Ed Rei. I am a live sound and studio audio engineer based in Portland Oregon (okay, Troutdale, but only locals would know where that is). My vehicle was broken into and a box of microphones and an audio splitter snake was stolen. I scrimped and saved to purchase these items over the last year to realize my goal of making a living in audio production. This theft was a severe setback to that end, brought on by a poor decision on my part.
I want to start out by saying this: I made a bonehead decision. I knew it was a calculated risk leaving over $3000 worth of gear in the car after wrapping up a huge show that day where I worked 12 hours straight without a break. I was very tired upon returning home and it was a night where it was pouring down rain. I truly didn't figure that car burglars worked in weather like that! Like I said....bonehead move, and I will continue to kick myself for some time to come over this decision. It was a sickening feeling to see my smashed out rear window (oh yeah, there is the $300 replacement cost of that too!) and missing boxes.
I have over 28 years of live sound mixing experience. I have worked at several Portland area sound companies (Concert Sound, Rose City Sound and Lights, Showcase Rentals, Phoenix Light and Sound, MDM Productions...), recording studios, and engineered at just about any club you can name in the Portland area during that time! I am fortunate to have earned a reputation of delivering good mixes and handling high-demand technical shows.
I need immediate funds to replace my microphone pack. I am not asking for a handout but I will not turn down "gifts". Rather, I am trying to secure more work to pay for these replacement mics before the really busy summer festival season starts! Thus, I am offering discounted engineering/rental fees in this gofundme compaign.
I can be a "show up and mix with what is there" guy, all the way up to providing a full sound system for up to a festival sized setting. I also offer 32 tracks of live recording! I have excellent references and examples of my recording work.
