Son-Rise Training and Travel

Three years ago our autism journey began, Teddy was 3 and wasn’t talking. So we started therapy for speech and development, as the months passed instead of improving he got worse. He retreated so far into his own world that he quit making eye contact and wouldn’t even acknowledge that we were there.  It put an incredible strain on our family and even our marriage. Because of this Laura started looking for answers outside of the normal treatment options, she searched for books to help us help Teddy, she bought four. The first one that God lead her to read was Autism Breakthrough by Raun Kaufman and it completely changed her view on everything regarding Teddy’s treatment. It described the Son-Rise Program that Raun’s parents developed which ultimately resulted in a complete recovery for him from autism.  Laura immediately started trying the steps that were outlined in the book and Teddy responded with the first eye contact that he had given anyone in months within two days of starting the program, and for the first time in months. We had hope that we could get our little sunshine boy back. Laura kept looking into the Son-Rise program since Teddy had such a great response to it, and found that they have a treatment/training center in Massachusetts called The Autism Treatment Center of America where they have been helping parents for over 35 years to get the help and training so that they can start their own Son-Rise program for their child. Shortly after finding this organization they started an online start up program which gave us a starting point. We have been following that program for a year and a half now. Teddy has made so much progress, but we feel like we could be better equipped to help him advance further if we went to the Autism Treatment Center of America and took their advanced training for parents. There is a cost for the training and for the travel to Massachusetts, which is why we are trying to raise money to go to their available training in May and August. Laura is going to be offering different items that she can sew for sale to raise the funds needed for the training and travel.
