My name is Alex Galicia, I'm a Small Business owner and proud Army/ Navy Veteran living in Chula Vista, CA.
I'm raising money for an orphanage by the name of Casa Hogar Sonrisa de Angeles (Smiling Angels Children's Home) in El Florido, one of the poorest neighborhoods of our neighboring Tijuana, Baja California.
It is run by a Catholic nun by the name of Madre (Mother) Liliana. She personally bought the land with money she raised by singing on local busses. A benefactor built her a chapel and some dorms. She provides a home for over 50 children ranging from infants to age 19.
I would like to regularly raise money so at least once a quarter, I can drive down with other concerned friends and family and provide food and clothing and even tuition assistance to the 19 year old (now enrolled in a local college).
I will contribute my personal time and vehicle (plus a little $$$ as well) to get things down there so 100% of the proceeds will reach the children in some form.
On every run, I will take plenty of photos and provide Facebook updates on who and how your hard-earned dollars are making a true difference.
My first visit was on December 26, 2016. I could not help being touched and even shocked at the reality of the situation down there. The only other similar experience I can compare it to is my time serving as a US Army Soldier in Iraq. Occasionally beautiful scenes were actually deadly and brutal scenarios with boiling rage and anger never far away.
Same thing down at this orphanage. Otherwise, innocent and serene looking children have witnessed and survived what can sometimes be described as horrific. Every child deserves food, clothing and at least a little bit of hope.
I will be very grateful for anythng you can contribute but hopefully, you will agree with the biblical proverb 19:17:
"He who giveth unto the poor, lendeth unto God."
