Hi,
My name is Jo and my best friend Sonny is extremely poorly.
Six days ago, Sonny started showing signs of being poorly, not eating or drinking. As the days went on I noticed he was getting progressively worse. I rang the emergency vet and he advised me to try and get fluids into Sonny until he could get to the vets the following morning.
I stayed up all through the night trying to get sonny to drink, eventually I had to force water into his mouth via a pipette. He was still getting worse, amd I was besides myself and felt completely useless, and heart was breaking seeing him so weak.
The next morning came and I rushed him to his appointment at Teme Veterinary Surgery in Tenbury Wells, afraid as I knew I couldn't afford an unexpected emergency vet bill, but Sonny's welfare had to come first.
The vet checked Sonny over, gave him 2 injections, 1 of Antibiotics and another for any inflammation he may have. His temperature was very high at 40!
At this point, Sonny hadn't eaten anything at all for 4 days, and the only water he had had, was the little that I could manage to administer via the pipette.
At this point I am now extremely concerned for my darling boys health, he has always been a very healthy cat, upto date with all his injections. The vet wasn't quite sure what was wrong with Sonny, maybe a virus? We didn't know.
After he was given the 2 injections, the vet said that Sonny should perk up by that afternoon, and his fever should drop...unfortunately it didn't.
I again stayed up all night with him, too worried to even sleep. He still wouldn't eat, but did manage to take some water by himself...but not enough.
I rang the vet as soon as they opened the following morning, an appointment was scheduled for 4.30pm, the clock was going round too slowly, I was panicking that je wouldn't make it, the water I kept applying to his head, ears and paws wasn't bringing his temperature down, he struggled to even stand up, he couldn't open his eyes, and began to become unresponsive!
I couldn't wait any longer for 4.30pm today arrive, so I scooped him up and drove to the vet as quickly and safely as I could.
I had rang the vet to say I was bringing Sonny as he was gradually shutting down, and fading away before my eyes.
The vet was waiting in the doorway of the consultation room, and whisked us in. She looked at Sonny and said he is a very poorly boy, severely dehydrated, and his temperature had rose to 41 (106) the injections hadn't worked.
The vet said he needs to stay in and be put on a drip for fluids, and also liquid food as he wasn't taking any food from me (chicken breast, white fish, warmed his own cat food up) nothing for 5 days at this point.
The vet rushed him off to get him straight onto a fluid drip and liquid foods.
I was told they would be talking bloods in house and sending bloods out to a Haematology lab, testing for Cat aids, cat leukemia and a number of other things.
I came home feeling helpless and heartbroken, worrying about Sonny, worrying about the cost of the vet bill, our home feels so empty without my Sonny.
I adopted him 6 years ago, and it's always been just him and I living together. He is classed as my Therapy Cat, but he is so much more than that, he is my Best friend. When my anxiety gets too much he knows and snuggles up with me, we look after each other...always have. Me and Sonny against the world. His start in life wasn't good, so I have made it my priority to give him the BEST life I can possibly give him, he has given me.so much more. My home feels empty without him here at the moment.
The vet rang last night, and told me he still hadn't improved, they have given him more antibiotics, steroids to bring any swelling down in his brain, and anti sickness. He has had a ultrasound and something looks amiss with his Gall bladder, one lot of bloods came.back saying he has inflammation in his body. This morning 09/05/2026 the blood results from the Haematology lab should be back.
Today he has to be transferred to Ludlow Veterinary Surgery, and kept over the weekend as hes still too poorly, and it's still not clear why his temperature won't come down, and to what is causing it.
If anybody can please help donate any amount, small or large, Sonny and I would very much appreciate it.
I understand it's difficult for alot of people at the moment, but if can't donate,.then please pray for my little boy
Thankyou for reading.
Love Sonny & Jo xx
