Helping Us, Help Our Mom

Our mom, Sonja, was recently diagnosed with endometrial uterine cancer.  She will be having surgery soon to have a radical hysterectomy and then will need radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

As a result Sonja will be out of work for atleast a month following her surgery and sporatically to receive treatments as well as simply not feeling well during treatment.

Within our amazing family, it's just us. Mom, myself and my sister and brother and our three georgous scotties. We lost our father suddently almost 3 years ago, and we rallied during that time and a few other hardships we have had over the past few years. We are not ones who openly discuss our problems and try our bet to take care of them ourselves but this time we are banding together as a family again to get through this hard time but we could really use some help.

Our bother, Tucker is a freshman at the University of Mary Washington, he just started this semester. My sister and I both go to college and work full time.  I will be taking time from work to help care for our mom while she recovers from surgery and to help get her to appointments.

Unfortunatley while Sonja is out of work she will be on unpaid leave. This leaves our family without the main wage earner and just me and my sister, Rachel, bringing in income to support us.

We are reaching out to our friends, family and loved ones and to anyone they may know willing to help our small family. We are trying to earn some money to help suppliment our income to help us pay our bills, mortgage, electricity, groceries, taking care of our 3 scotties, etc. while our mom is out of work and to help in taking care of medical expenses, like co-pays, medications and transportation expenses getting her to and from appointments and treatment in the city.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated, as it will help ease some of our stress during this stressful situation and help us to really focus on getting our mom healthy and kicking this cancer's butt!  We are not ready to lose her yet and will be treating this aggressively. Our mom is one of the strongest people I know and is filled with so much love, kindness and beauty.
