Our beloved Sonia needs some assistance from all of us who love her. We all enjoy her company and know how kind-hearted she is. She is caring and loving. She’s honestly concerned with the well-being of others, and her positive attitude is just contagious. She lights up the room with her smile and she is simply the best all around. Last year she was diagnosed with an illness that scares us all (cancer) but Sonia has battled on through like the strong woman we all know she is.
Uterine Leiomyosarcoma, to be precise, is one of the forms of very rare and aggressive cancerous tumors called Sarcomas. It grows in soft tissues such as the uterus. The exact causes of Leiomyosarcoma are not known, but studies have indicated that there are genetic and environmental risk factors associated with it. Many oncologists rarely see more than one or two cases of Leiomyosarcoma in their entire career. It is estimated to occur in 6 out of every 1,000,000 women in the United States each year.
Many of Sonia’s family and friends have asked “How can I help?” that is why we are setting up this page for you to help her get through this tough time without the additional financial stress of all her medical bills. It is difficult to get the conversation started with someone who is going through this, but talking about it brings awareness and makes it less uncomfortable for everyone involved. Here are links that can help with ideas that can benefit Sonia at this moment in addition to your financial support.
