Hi, my name is Anahi Gutierrez. I'm Sonia Ojeda-Gutierrez's 19-year-old daughter. My mom is and will forever be my best friend. The love I have for her could never, however, compare to the love, time, and dedication my mother has poured out over our family.
A year ago, my family's lives took a huge turn and we were struck with a situation none of us could have ever imagined and were prepared for. In January 2019, my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was located behind her left eye in the cerebral cortex. This tumor would be found to be the cause of many absent and physical seizures. The only found solution to this was to conduct an operation in attempts to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Her operation would later be on March 18th, 2019. We all sat in the temporary comfort that the hard part was now over. None of us could have ever imagined what was about to come.
I remember this day vividly as it was one of the most traumatic days of my family's life. My sister and I were sleeping over my best friend's house the night of March 19th and were about to go to bed. Her mom has just gotten off the phone with my dad and she came into the room to tell us that our mother had just suffered a stroke and the doctors were going to perform an emergency surgery in attempts to save her life. In that moment, my sister broke down screaming and crying, yelling out "No, not my mom. Please not my mom." When we arrived at the hospital, we just cried in the arms of our dad. We were so afraid of losing my mom.
My mom survived the surgery by the grace of God and the road to recovery has been very difficult at times, but we are believing and keeping firm in the promises God has been pouring out over my mom's life. The surgery consisted of the doctors removing a very large piece of her skull. On March 20th, 2020, my mom will be undergoing another major surgery in order to put back that missing piece of her skull. Due to this surgery and process of recovery, we are creating this gofundme page and ask in your assistance in helping us cover these upcoming medical expenses. We are also looking to continue to raise funds to cover my mom's ongoing physical and speech therapy, due to the fact that the insurance is no longer willing to cover these expenses. We ask you that if you can please donate and share this page with your social network to continue to raise these funds.

The support has been so needed and appreciated more than you could ever know. I would have never in my wildest dreams could have imagined we would be in a situation so scary as this, yet here we are. She is our glue and I would not be the woman, the daughter, the worship leader, the friend, that I am if it weren't for my beautiful mom.
