In March 2016, Sonia Mullins was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is 34 years old. She has spent this year undergoing extensive and aggressive treatment, including the “dreaded stubborn drain” chemotherapy, lymph node dissection, a double mastectomy and several reconstructive surgeries. It has been the longest and hardest year of her life and its not over yet with more surgery to come, but she has maintained a positive outlook, has remained brave and powered through without complaint.
Since her original diagnosis Sonia has shown incredible strength and grace. She has spent countless hours visiting with doctors and undergoing extensive and often debilitating treatments. In the beginning she tried to continue to work and be a full time mom to her now 4 year old son Gray and wife to her husband. She soon realized this was not what the doctors recommend. After Sonia started her journey and was undergoing and recovering from multiple surgeries Sonia was forced to take leave from her full time job that she loved as a Sales Rep at Solution Reach. This was a very difficult decision to stop working and focus on her health. Sonia Gray and her husband Grayson moved back in with her family to help get the support to take care of her, while she was ill, and her son so Grayson could still provide and work full time. While Sonia was Blessed enough to have Health Insurance we all know what happens... We know the cycle, we understand the reality with the health insurance, while yes it does allow us to have some the best surgeons it does not pay for all of our surgeries, overnight stays along with the medicines that are needed, and so much more. Sonia had 7 surgeries last year alone, and will now be facing another major surgery due to recent discoveries. Sonia needs to continue to see a counselor that unfortunately is out of network that is helping her grieve and cope with everyday life as she is a new woman inside and out. Sonia would not tell you these things because her positive outlook but I have seen the bills start to pile up while she puts herself last on the list to take care of. She is simply amazing and has been so brave and strong through this trial and I know everyone would want to play a part to help her along her road to recovery.
Throughout this time, Sonia has been blessed and surrounded by love and support of family and friends. She will now rely on that support more than ever.. She needs our help but would never ask… Funding she receives will help her pay the Bills that are piling up weighing down the family. The Goal would be that this will pay those off, pay for upcoming surgeries without hesitance, for resources to continue to be available, even those that fall outside the medical care she is currently receiving. This will also free her to dedicate time to her mental and emotional well-being, to surround herself with the people she loves, and continue to find the strength to navigate this difficult path and not worry about the financial part and lastly it would possibly give her an opportunity to take her family on a trip to celebrate their 1-year anniversary, that they did not celebrate due to her illness or whatever they wanted just because. Please help me with raising money for her and the family along with praying for protection and good health over them.
