My wife Sonia (Mejia) Mason, is currently fighting for her life in the ICU. She got a cold along with an ear infection thay took a traumatic and unforeseen turn for the worst.  The cold and infection triggered an autoimmune disease called Systemic Lupus Erythematosus  (SLE) and unfortunately it has damaged her lungs very badly.   

     She was diagnosed with lupus in 2015 but had not experienced any major problems until now. On January 27 at 5:30am while in the ICU, her oxygen saturation started dropping dramatically fast. She went unconscious and they began chest compressions. They were able to bring her back and put her on a ventilator. Shes been sedated since then and having to go through one treatment and procedure after another. She had a chest tube to remove fluid from around her lungs, been receiving dialysis because her kidney hadn't been functioning. She started medication to fight the lupus and was also started on high dose steroid to reduce inflammation of her lungs. Both medications can take up to 1 to 2 weeks to see if its working.
     She’s an amazing mother to our son, an amazing wife and love of my life. The last time we communicated with her was Thursday the 26th, I had gotten a text as I  our son was getting ready for bed, and she said
”I love you and it will all be over soon.”
  I replied back
“I love you so much, and yes it will be over…us three are stronger than any sickness. Our family has a bond, a love, and courage that is without a doubt unmatched by anyone. When one of us is sad…two of us embrace the other with happiness. When one of us is sick…two of us strengthen the other with health. When one of us fall…two of us raise the other to stand again. We got this my love…we got each other.” 

     Sonia is currently in still in the ICU and still listed in critical condition. With all the complications of this terrible ordeal, our financial situation has become really hard and we are looking to our friends, family, and loved ones for help.  The funds would go towards making sure all finances (utility, medical, etc.) are covered. This will allow Sonia a comfortable and stress free recovery. 
     To acheive a better recovery for Sonia, I have set a goal of $20,000. This is for 4 months of finances and any additional post hospital treatment (physical therapy, medications, etc.) I was also told by the doctor that a recliner (with or without the assited lift) would be very beneficial, she'd able to take off stress from her already hurting body and get a nice restful recovery. 
     We thank everyone for helping in any way, especially their thoughts and prayers. I will do my best to give daily updates on her condition.
