Songs for the Soul by Ruth Blake

Hi beautiful friends, with your help I'm finally recording new music! This goal of 4k will help me to complete and release 4 singles including the songs you may have heard, Speak Your Truth, Let's Play, and Untamed (previously called Flow With What You're Feeling) plus the relatively new Not Your Angel.

Not Your Angel is subtitled Inanna's Return. It's a dark feminist anthem, from the perspective of the ancient Goddess of Love and War, Inanna. She speaks on behalf of the divine feminine principle, of the earth, and of all women who have been defiled, debased, violated and abused. This song is a way for me to shake off the outdated shackles of the 'good girl' and reclaim my rage as a sacred and holy force for protection and righteous action.

Speak Your Truth is a funky sing-along tune that reminds you to show up as you are, 'even if your voice shakes,' because we are ultimately all 'on the same team, [and part of] the same family.'

Let's Play is a cool and catchy number reminding us to loosen up and stop taking ourselves so flipping seriously.

Untamed is a reassuring and slightly hypnotic piece about allowing our feelings to flow through us, rather than locking them up in a box. It asks, "What's it like to be a wave crashing on the shore, or the fury of a lion's roar untamed?" It reminds us that it's ok to feel and that our feelings are there to guide us and give us insight into our experiences.

Any money raised beyond my goal will go towards recording more songs and videos, of which I have a treasure chest brimming full.
