After finding her biggest competition in the closet with the drama teacher, Margie must find a way to still land the lead in the play inorder to gain the attention she craves.
Hi, I'm Alexa Cuozzo. I'm a junior year film major at the SUNY purchase film conservatory, and songbird, death by touch is my junior year thesis film.
I Went to an all girl's boarding school from the ages of fourteen to eighteen - the years that all that love and longing go from theory to practice for the first time. To be held and suffocated by the same tight-knit group of women builds these characters within us - characters like Margie and Grace. Both girls who find it so easy to despise one another for being the thing they wish they could be most of all. Loved, desired, wanted. And it brings young girls together like stitching, no matter how different they feel.
So I started to ask myself; why couldn't we girls be that thing that makes the other wanted?
This film is my own messy answer for myself. The four characters Margie, Grace, Oliver, and Millers are all creatures of this loneliness in a small, American private school. During the auditions for their school play, the four find themselves all webbed up in a mess of secret relationships. Margie, our shrunken and mousy protagonist, wants Oliver's love - more than just what happens in closest and bathroom stalls. Oliver wants to make a good show. Whether that means Margie is the lead, or Grace.
The money raised for this film will go towards:
- Transportation
- Location
- Feeding/Crew well-being
- Equipment/Generator rentals (if necessary)
Thank you for taking the time to consider funding this project,
Alexa Cuozzo.
