I moved to Winnipeg from Toronto because I love this city. Why? The magnificent historic buildings in the Exchange District, the local flavors of foods, and the warm, welcoming people. The city has a prairie spirit you won't find anywhere else.
For the past 7 years I worked with a prestigious tour company headquartered in the United States. Before that, I contributed to multiple travel-based blogs in Toronto. My life has been devoted to showing people the world. Now it is time to show them my new home.
Since arriving in town, I have scoured every bookstore, visited all the museums, taken tours, and explored the city. Nothing is more rewarding than falling in love with a place and sharing how amazing it is with others!
With the COVID-19 Pandemic, I have decided to pivot and utilize my tour guide skills locally to help tourists and locals see the city.
Unfortunately, to do this costs money. Starting a business involves registration fees, insurance and materials. I have paid for these business expenses out of pocket and in order for me to survive the current situation I am looking for some help to recoup what I already spent.
Currently I am running city tours, neighbourhood food tours and pub tours in the city via word of mouth and social media. Things are going well and business agreements are being made, but it will take more time than the season allows in this environment.
This is not a great time for tourism, but people in the city are enjoying my guided experiences. I feel that investing in this idea was worth it, but there is just not enough people in Winnipeg to sustain it financially until tourism returns.
If I can get help to pay myself back, this money will cover me for the three years I need to build the business. These funds will not only help the business, but me personally to support myself until this ordeal is over.
Thank you so much for your assistance!
