Sonali's Recovery: A Teacher's Fight for Life
Donation protected
On May 18th, my dear friend and neighbor, Sonali Anderson, along with her son Kannon, were involved in a near-fatal car wreck. After picking up her son in Marlboro, Sonali and Kannon were traveling southbound on Hwy 34 in Wall, and were hit head-on by a drunk driver, traveling in the wrong direction. The driver's side of the vehicle took the brunt of the hit, which resulted in life-threatening injuries, and required emergency surgery to stop the internal bleeding. Sonali also suffered multiple broken bones, including her leg, ankle, arm, and hip- all of which have required surgical intervention. Miraculously, Kannon, a sophomore at Wall HS, was able to walk away from the accident with a fractured wrist and other minor injuries. Sonali is currently in the ICU at JSUMC and is in critical but stable condition.
As we all know, unexpected emergencies like this are a huge financial burden. While their health insurance will cover most of the medical expenses, it doesn't help with all the additional expenses, loss of wages, and eventually having to replace Sonali's vehicle (which was supposed to be given to Kannon, who currently has his driver's permit). Sonali and her husband, Bob, are both beloved teachers in the Matawan and Marlboro school systems. In addition to teaching, Bob is a longtime bartender at Martell's in Point Pleasant, and having to miss days at work, will be a significant financial loss for their family.
This is where you come in...
The Anderson's could really use our help to get through this unimaginable situation. Please consider donating to a family that have given so much to our community, and to countless students. Every little bit helps! Thank you and GOD BLESS!
