Earlier this week, Nia took her son to the doctor about some concerning spots and areas on her son's face and was told it was a viral event and it would go away after several days. Despite Nia's very much expressed concern of it being something more, he continued to get worse to the point his eyes were swollen shut and he can't see out of one of them due to swelling. She kept being told it was viral. After much frustration, Nia and her significant other decided to take him to Children's Mercy where he was immediately admitted with MRSA. He will continue to be at Children's Mercy in KC, MO under their care to receive IV antibiotics. It's always a super serious situation with MRSA. It's an incredibly difficult time for the family. The current goal is that they will be up there most of the week while he continues to get care, and they do have other children that will have to go back and forth to school and work will be missed during this time. With time off and significant loss of pay, as well as increased travel expenses towards getting their youngest well, this will continue to be a difficult week ahead. It would mean a lot if you can consider donating to help the family during this time. All proceeds will go towards the family directly for traveling expenses, time lost at work, and being able to keep the parents at Children's Mercy and be able to rotate back and forth from their hometown to KC, MO.
