On October 1st, we lost a beloved father, husband, brother, friend, uncle, and long-time Nantucket community member, Somwong Kyomitmaitee.

Known as "Wong" to all, he passed away unexpectedly in a paddleboarding accident. He leaves behind a wife, son, sister, and countless friends and family members who will miss him dearly.

He loved his community, to fish and provide his catchings to his friends and family, preserving Nantucket's architectural history through his shingling business, King of Shing, and spending time out on the water. He was a kindhearted, fun, and loving man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or just a good hug.

I, Sam, am raising funds on his family's behalf at the request of his wife, Kob. Wong has been an uncle figure to me since the day I was born, and had been part of my family's life for over 35 years. He will be truly missed by us all.

Any donations to help with his funeral and memorial expenses, and future education expenses for his son, Justice, is greatly appreciated. Donations can be made through GoFundMe, and cash donations can be given at Thai House restaurant as well.

I am fundraising for Wong's wife, Kob Sathitanon, and their son, Justice. Wong was an honorary uncle to me, having been a close family friend with my mother, father, and my extended family for over 35 years. Wong was at the hospital the day that I was born and I would babysit his son, Justice, when he was a toddler. Wong frequently spent time with me and my family throughout my childhood. He also spent a lot of time with my extended family who own and run Thai House restaurant, and Siam To Go.

2. If your beneficiary wants you to manage the funds for them, explain how you plan on sending the funds to them, or how you’ll use the funds on their behalf.

The funds will be deposited directly into Kob and Justice's bank account. They will be linked as a beneficiary once their finances have been sorted out with Wong's lawyer.

3. If you've added someone else as your beneficiary, make sure you include their name and relationship to the person you’re fundraising for.

Wong's wife, Kob, whose legal name is Kingkaew, will be listed as the beneficiary.
