Sometimes You Need A Little Help From Your Friends

Donation protected
Hi everyone.  "Smiley Meg " here.
As most of you know - I couldn't have children and my rescue animals have become the only kids I have ever known.
Seemingly overnight, my almost 10 year old pup's health started failing. One minute he was playing - the next he was vomiting.
A quick trip to a veterinary hospital which included x-rays and extensive bloodwork resulted in finding out my pups spleen was enlarged.
An ultrasound was set for later in the week.  Once the excitement had passed and he was home- he started to go downhill quickly. All signs were pointing to internal bleeding....but due to the Covid Virus...I didn't have enough money to take him to the ER vet, as they require immediate payment for services. All I could do was pray he would make it through the night. It was an awful feeling. I didn't sleep a wink and was fighting a major case of guilt.
I was able to schedule an emergency ultrasound the next morning which revealed my worst fear - it was a tumor....and it was hemorrhaging into his abdomen.
Doctor immediately did emergency surgery - a splenectomy - as well as removal of a few other spots and adhesions.
So many costs are affliated with this procedure and we are not out of the woods yet.
I feel embarrassed to ask publically for financial help... But I didn't expect my job to be reduced to 24 hours a week either - due to the virus. I am a bartender/ waitress - so I have not been back to work full time since March. Unemployment has been a joke.
Due to this hardship...I have not been able to donate to causes and charities like I normally do - so I understand if you can't help out.
But I figured it wouldn't hurt to try....so here I am.
I will have a bill coming for x-rays, blood-work, ultrasound, anesthesia, fluids, the excision of the spleen, follow up lab work to analyze the biopsy to guide us in our next steps of treatment - and the cost of his meds. After this...there will be follow up care. Although I most likely won't put him through chemotherapy - I would like to try some holistic herbs and other meds to try and prolong his life.
He means the world to me...I have had him since he was 6 weeks old. He is named after my fiance who passed away away when I was a young girl .... HERCULES.
He is a gentle soul who never met a person he didn't like...evident by the kisses he likes to slip in whenever possible. He loves his  brother Diego I rescued from a deplorable situation...and both of his kitty siblings...who are also rescues.  He is playful and happy and has an enormous amount of patience for his brother's relentless antics.
No one expected 2020 to turn out the way it did.... But I refuse to give up.
I would have never forgiven myself if he would have died last night because I didn't have the money to get him the treatment he needed.

He has been going to this vet since he was a baby...and they have kindly agreed to let me make payments....however this Covid situation doesn't seem to be getting any better. I need your help.

If this fundraiser is a success and I end up raising more money than what his needs are ...I am going to donate the rest to the hospital to be used for others who need help with their vet bills in times of an emergency. You can rest easy knowing your money will help other furbabies and their families in a time of need.

Please don't feel bad if you can't donate - we will happily take your prayers instead.
To those of you who are able to donate - thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This year has been a struggle but I always feel blessed to have my best friends by my side - tails and tongues wagging.

Please help by sharing on your facebook pages... I am humbled by the love and continued support of this community.
Hercules, Diego, Marlin, Savanna and I thank you.
Check out my Facebook posts for up to date reports on his progress.
Much love - Meg
