Support for women like Brittany Higgins

Updated: Yet again showing her extraordinary dignity and grace, Brittany has requested all money raised via this appeal be given to supporting survivors of sexual and family violence. She could’ve used your generous donations to do something nice, to pay bills, or in lieu of income. Instead, as was reported today, her representatives will seek compensation from the Commonwealth. The contributions here will benefit countless other women like Brittany.

Brittany Higgins's story of alleged rape inside Parliament House by a fellow government staffer has horrified Australia. 

This young woman's extraordinary courage in coming forward to speak up and expose her unspeakable mistreatment has come at a significant personal cost.

The trauma of reliving her assault again and again. The saturation media coverage. The victim blaming. The reported smear campaign by some figures in politics. 

Self-care is important. I think Britt could use some. 

If you can, please contribute to a kitty for Brittany to take some time out and make her road to recovery a little easier. It might be a night away with her partner, some R&R, care and treatment, skills training to help find her new dream - whatever she likes. 

I feel like we all owe Brittany a debt of gratitude for helping to create long overdue change.
