With the resurgence of COVID-19 in Somalia, countless lives are being lost at an alarming rate due to a critical shortage of basic but essential treatments such as oxygen.
Two Somali-American physicians, Dr. Deka Jama MD and Dr. Ismail Mualim MD, have had the unique opportunity to collaborate with frontline doctors treating the sickest COVID patients in Mogadishu's Martini Hospital, a public hospital serving the most vulnerable communities in the city. These frontline medical providers have sounded the alarm and sent out cries of help to the world and their Somali counterparts in the diaspora, such as Dr. Jama and Dr. Mualim. In recent days both physicians have tirelessly coordinated with local physicians in making a ground-level medical assessment of what is critically needed at this time. As a result, 5 life-saving breathing machines are already on their way to Martini Hospital because of this collaboration. Please, we plead with you to join us and donate now to help expand these efforts as we reach our most vulnerable brothers and sister in Somalia.
